What’s All This Business About Link Building Anyway?
For all of the years I’ve been in the business of the web and internet, I’ve never seen so many, so often, go on and on so much, about link building.
Are webmasters becoming so afraid of Google that they have to eat, breathe, and drink, link building?
I don’t know about anyone else, but my experience is such that says link building is about as over rated as page rank is these days .. it’s a basic non-starter for SEO in general.
Link building, in and of itself I suppose is fine, but it absolutely is not the “end-all” to ranking well in the SERPS.
Link building was a big deal back in 2002 .. the web has moved on since then however, and things like keeping it real and writing great content will do more for position than anything else out there.
When it comes down to the down and dirty business of the internet, and the Google SERP positions, there are no shortcuts … No amount of link building will get you the desired results of higher ranking IMO.
Authority, Content, and Clean Coding, are the basic building blocks of today’s internet SERP listings.
Search engines want the real deal when they populate their indexes .. Link pages are fine I suppose, but using links as the mighty weapon to gain great placement in the SERPS is a bit of a stretch.
Write your content, and know what you are talking about when you do it .. and you just might discover that links don’t exactly make the world go ’round on the internet of today.
